Pokémon Art Academy Competition Announced to Find Winners Whose Illustrations will be Made into Promotional Pokémon TCG Cards

BELLEVUE, WA – February 12, 2015 – The Pokémon Company International and Nintendo invite Pokémon fans and budding illustrators to enter an international Pokémon Art Academy Competition using the Pokémon Art Academy game available exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems. The competition opens on February 18, 2015, and closes on March 29, 2015, and the winners will be announced in May 2015. The entries will be accepted via Miiverse, accessible via the Nintendo 3DS. This is an exciting opportunity for would-be Pokémon artists from around the world, as the competition’s winners will have their masterpiece turned into their very own Pokémon TCG card!

The game offers aspiring Pokémon artists 40 lessons in how to paint, sketch, and draw popular Pokémon. Students of Pokémon Art Academy can pick up illustration skills that they can transfer onto real canvas, or they can share their digital masterpieces with the world. Now, would-be artists can enter a special competition via Miiverse which allows them to showcase their talents as graduates of the Pokémon Art Academy!
Six talented winners will be selected by a panel of judges comprised of some of the creators of the much-loved Pokémon universe. Each winner will receive 100 cards featuring his or her winning image–meaning that they will be in possession of some TCG cards of their own making.*
There are two categories for budding Pokémon artists to enter: Dress-Up Pikachu and Your Favorite Pokémon.
Dress-Up Pikachu
Inspired by the special Cosplay Pikachu, which can be discovered in the recently launched Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire video games, this category gives entrants the chance to play fashion designer and create their very own Pikachu outfit!
In the Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire video games, Pikachu can dress up as Pikachu Belle; Pikachu Rock Star; Pikachu Pop Star; Pikachu, Ph.D.; and Pikachu Libre. Donning an array of new looks, Cosplay Pikachu can learn moves that ordinary Pikachu cannot learn in normal gameplay, and all have fun costumes that are sure to inspire the would-be costume designers who enter this category.
Your Favorite Pokémon
This category gives entrants the chance to submit their own artistic impressions of a favorite Pokémon, which they can do using the Free Paint mode of Pokémon Art Academy. So, if Snorlax awakens an inner Leonardo da Vinci, or Rayquaza gets fans painting with flying colors, then this is their perfect category!
Details of how to enter can be found below, so all that remains is for Pokémon fans to grab a stylus and start discovering their inner artist with Pokémon Art Academy!
*The winners’ cards will not be made available for sale in regular Pokémon TCG products nor will they be eligible to take part in Play! Pokémon officially sanctioned organized play events.

How to Enter the Pokémon Art Academy Competition

  • Create and save an image in Pokémon Art Academy using Free Paint mode.
  • Select the “Share” option from Pokémon Art Academy’s main menu and connect to Miiverse.
  • Select the “Post to Competition” option and select “I Agree” if you agree to the Official Rules.

Prepare yourself for Mega Evolutions of your fav. Pokémon, find new places to adventure and prepare for an amazing trek through the Hoenn region.

My mere mortal words cannot do much to describe what’s to come, so I’ll leave it to Nintendo’s press release below to fill you in on any details you might have missed. Something tells me though, that most of you reading already know what’s to come.

Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire kick off the holiday shopping season with games that both old and new Pokémon fans will love,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “The games let players explore and experience the world of Pokémon like never before, with hours of portable entertainment perfect for long holiday trips.”

While Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire provide fans of all ages with the classic game-play elements of catching, battling and trading Pokémon, the games contain many features never before seen in the Pokémon franchise. For the first time, the two Legendary Pokémon Groudon and Kyogre will undergo powerful transformations that rock the very region to its core as they become Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre. These Primal Reversions take the Legendary Pokémon back to their primal forms and grant each of them commanding looks and moves. In addition, after catching the Pokémon Latias or Latios, players can learn to Soar, allowing them to hop on the back of these Dragon- and Psychic-type Pokémon and fly high above the Hoenn region. This ability lets players access new areas and discover even more Pokémon, including very powerful Legendary Pokémon from previous games in the series.

i_42263Catching and battling with Pokémon in Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire is just as fun as ever, but now it can be done in different ways. Using the new PokéNav Plus, players can navigate the world and locate Pokémon in the city, in the wild or even high up in the sky. Any time players are near Pokémon, the PokéNav Plus will show them information about that Pokémon. Players can even sneak up on Pokémon in the wild, making it much easier to catch them. Mega Evolutions, first introduced in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y, return and now more Pokémon can evolve into this more powerful form. In a treat for fans who enjoy Pokémon lore, the mysterious origins of Mega Evolution reveal themselves in Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire.

As with previous games in the series, players can battle and trade Pokémon with friends and other players around the world with a wireless broadband Internet connection. Using the Player Search System, anyone can seek out Pokémon battles and interact with players with the touch of a button. Fans of Pokémon X and Pokémon Y will also love to know that they can obtain the highly prized Eon Ticket to travel to a remote location to catch another Legendary Pokémon.

One of the unique features in the original Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire games was the ability to discover and set up personal Secret Bases. These Secret Bases return as Super-Secret Bases in Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire, and can be decorated with various items collected throughout the game. Fans who want to show off their beautifully decorated bases can invite friends to visit their Secret Bases using built-in communication features. And the customization aspects of the games don’t end there: Various Pokémon can be entered into in-game Pokémon Contest Spectaculars to show off their moves and win over the judges. Using Berries discovered in the game, players can make Pokéblocks to feed to their Pokémon, preparing these show stoppers to claim the top prize.

Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire will be available in stores, at Nintendo.com and PokemonCenter.com, as well as in the Nintendo eShop on Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo 2DS on Nov. 21 at a suggested retail price of $39.99 each. For anyone who wants to pick up both games together, the Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire Dual Pack also launches on Nov. 21, exclusively at Best Buy retail stores, on BestBuy.com or on Amazon.com at a suggested retail price of $79.98. New digital content for Nintendo systems includes Pokemon trading card game

I was serious when I said that Nintendo was serious about their downloadable content, games and indie games, people! ( Read about it here)You didn’t believe me, and here we are again with more goodies. Pokemon trading card games, bit.trip on sale, A World of Keflings and another really bad Sonic the Hedgehog game. Or, is it TWO Sonics? Seriously, it’s so bad now that the term Sonic is a synonym for crappy, under-cooked horrible games. If you are struggling for the meaning of synonym, than you should play less video games.

Really though, there are some great offerings here on not only the Wii U by 3DS as well. What games are you looking forward to? Oh, yeah, I’ve included a @#$% ton of links and some great images. More in fact than anyone else in the industry, so how about you show some appreciation and tell your friends about it or tell me thank you!!! Or, don’t because I don’t wanna really hear from you anyway. Pout, tear, cry baby face. You’re actually into some weird stuff and I really don’t want to know about it. Okay, really, stop smearing that there and try to concentrate on the games.

Nintendo offering Amiibo subscription service

Nintendo offers Amiibo Subscription service

NINTENDO PARTNERS WITH LOOT CRATE FOR A CREATIVE WAY TO DELIVER AMIIBO TO FANS

With Skylanders and Disney Infinity figures before them, Nintendo’s Amiibos have found success. Nintendo jumped into the figures-for-games market and the move has helped rejuvenate not only Nintendo, but it’s floundering Wii U console. With the hits Super Smash Bros. and Pokemon games and holiday seasons fast approaching, Nintendo is getting ahead of the game with this new deal with Loot Crate to provide Amiibos to fans via subscription service. By offering the service and presumably a discount, the figures will be more accessible and put them into more living rooms. Brilliant move in my opinion by Nintendo. Each day that goes by, I regret not having the Wii U. I’ll be working some extra shifts to be able to afford the console however. If you’re reading this sweetie pie, I can wait on my XBOX-1.

For more information on Loot Crate and the Amiibo subscription, and even some statements from folks at Loot Crate, go ahead and read below. And hey, Does Amiibo make a difference for you, and will you be joining the service?

Read more Nintendo content from Richard here, and keep reading for more on the Amiibo service.

With the holidays fast approaching and excitement for amiibo growing every day, the popular online delivery service Loot Crate is helping fans receive select amiibo figures after they launch on Nov. 21. By signing up for an “amiibo Subscription Service,” subscribers will receive 10 pre-selected amiibo (including Mario, Pikachu, Donkey Kong, Fox and Yoshi) separated into three special Loot Crate shipments throughout the holiday season without ever having to leave their homes.

“Featuring compatibility with Super Smash Bros. for Wii UMario Kart 8 and Hyrule Warriors this year, amiibo figures are shaping up to be one of the year’s must-have holiday items,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “Fans around the country already enjoy Loot Crate’s approach to delivering cool new items every month, and now they have a new and convenient way to get their hands on amiibo.”

“We are honored to be working with Nintendo – a company that our team loves and respects, and that many of us grew up with,” said Chris Davis, Loot Crate’s CEO. “The iconic Super Smash Bros.games have brought people together for years, and we’re excited to become a part of that story in a new way through our amiibo Subscription Service.”

By joining the subscription service, Loot Crate guarantees the 10 pre-selected amiibo, and allows subscribers to avoid the hassle of rushing to retailers to find their favorite characters. In addition to Mario, Pikachu, Donkey Kong, Fox and Yoshi, the other five pre-selected characters will be revealed through Loot Crate soon. Super Smash Bros. for Wii UMario Kart 8 and Hyrule Warriorswill feature amiibo compatibility this year, with functionality for Captain Toad: Treasure TrackerKirby and the Rainbow CurseYoshi’s Wooly WorldMario Party 10 and more coming in the future.

Nintendo and Loot Crate also have a few additional surprises in store for Super Smash Bros. and amiibo fans, so check back with Loot Crate for further details. For more information about how to participate in the limited-time “amiibo Subscription Service,” visit http://www.lootcrate.com/amiibo.

New Mega-Evolved Pokémon: Mega Pidgeot and Mega Beedrill!

Mega Pidgeot and Mega Beedrill will make their debut in Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire. Boasting increased Special Attack and high Speed, Mega Pidgeot makes quick work of its opponents. Pidgeot can learn the Flying-type move Hurricane, which creates a chaotic storm around the target, potentially causing confusion. Coupled with its No Guard Ability, which allows all moves to land a hit regardless of accuracy, Mega Pidgeot can be a saving grace in any battle.

Upon Mega Evolving, poisonous stingers on Beedrill’s tail and arms grow, new barbs sprout from its legs, and its Attack receives a boost. The Bug-type move Fell Stinger raises Beedrill’s Attack stat by two stages when it causes an opponent to faint, and its Adaptability Ability raises the power of its moves of the same type from the standard 150% to 200%, making Mega Beedrill a great offensive teammate.

Navigate Your Adventure with PlayNav Plus!

PokéNav Plus is a new tool designed to help players navigate their journey across the Hoenn region. PokéNav Plus is packed with applications to help players find hidden or specific types of Pokémon in tall grass via the DexNav, check all kinds of Hoenn region information via the AreaNav, and view news from around Hoenn and from other players whom you’ve passed with BuzzNav.

The PlayNav function offers three popular features that first appeared in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y—the Player Search System (PSS)Pokémon-Amie, and Super Training. The PSS allows players to trade Pokémon and battle with others nearby or around the world with a Wi-Fi connection. Trainers can play with their Pokémon and feed them treats called Poké Puffs in Pokémon-Amie, and the bond between Trainer and Pokémon will grow. Super Training is a fun way to prepare your Pokémon team for battle. PlayNav also allows players to manage their O-Powers, special advantages that can be kept or shared with others as the game progresses, and view announcements via the Holo Caster.
