UBISOFT® PARTNERS WITH ACADEMY OF ART UNIVERSITY FOR EXCLUSIVE DESIGN CONTEST

Kudos to Ubisoft for working with the academy of Art in this contest. Ubisoft is donating $2500.00 to the university and the winning team. This doesn’t seem like a simple marketing ploy, Ubisoft seems genuinely interested in the gaming and art community. A little cross-promotion and support for art never hurts either. For more details on the contest, read below.

UBISOFT® PARTNERS WITH ACADEMY OF ART UNIVERSITY FOR EXCLUSIVE DESIGN CONTEST

Three Months, Two Creative Influencers, One Winning Design

SAN FRANCISCO – October 15, 2014 – Today, Ubisoft® and Academy of Art University (AAU), two San Francisco creative forces, announced that they are partnering for a contest to have exclusively student-designed artwork created for the front window of Ubisoft’s San Francisco office at 625 Third Street. The contest is open to AAU’s School of Advertising as well as its student-run agency, Young + Hungry a Creative Co-op. Through a series of rounds, artwork from one winning team will be chosen as the new display to go up on Ubisoft’s front window at the beginning of 2015. Additionally, Ubisoft will be donating $2,500 to Academy of Art University and the winning team. “We’re thrilled to partner up again with Academy of Art and its ambitious group of students,” said Michael Hammond, creative director, Ubisoft. “Because we are both proud citizens of San Francisco, we are confident that their work will represent our unique perspective as a creative company in the Bay Area.” Ubisoft previously collaborated with AAU for a similar marketing campaign for a semester-long class project, and they were impressed with the passion, talent and creativity the students brought to the table. Teaming up for a second time seemed only natural, especially since both companies are based in San Francisco. “Academy of Art takes pride in being able to offer our students hands-on learning opportunities through real-world experiences,” said Vince Engel, co-director, School of Advertising. “While we share the same hometown as Ubisoft, we also share the same values in creativity and passion. We look forward to seeing our students’ ideas come to fruition.” Hammond met with the AAU contest participants on campus to present the creative brief. The students were challenged to incorporate Ubisoft characters and elements of its corporate DNA to illustrate the company as a “proud citizen of San Francisco.” Students asked questions and offered a few creative ideas to the Ubisoft team, which stirred up a competitive yet inspirational atmosphere to start the contest. The contest includes three rounds of submissions beginning in late October. The finalists will visit the Ubisoft San Francisco office to present their proposed artwork for judging in December.
