SAN FRANCISCO, CA – February 5, 2015 – Today, Ubisoft® announced that the Open Beta tag on The Mighty Quest for Epic Loot has been lifted, signaling the game’s official launch. Throughout the beta period, the humorous Hack and Slash action game established its direction and added many new features including crafting, open creation, barricades, new traps, rare creatures and clans to continuously grow and improve the game.

“For us the Beta phases of the game served as a way to continue iterating and forging the direction of the game,” said Quentin Gallet, executive producer. “Now that the core gameplay and tone are locked in, we’re focused on continuing to collaborate with our community to build upon this direction and refine what we have created. The Mighty Quest will receive regular updates with new features and with our community’s help it will continue to grow and improve.”

As part of the game’s official launch, a new way to purchase past and future in-game content has been added with the Infinite Pack, an all-inclusive pack that is now available. The pack gives players access to all four Heroes, previously released rare creatures and traps, two Epic Rings, one Bling Mine, one Material Mine and all future rare creatures and traps as they become available. Ubisoft has gotten some bad press lately with the messy release of the newest Assassin’s Creed game. But, there are bigger and more important things in life going on. With that said, video games can still make a difference in people’s lives, and that’s what the new initiative Ubisoft is involved with the Special Olympics and some really big stars can do. Full details are below. With some of the cool news that has come out today, it makes me feel a little better about being a news junkie and desk jockey. Read on.

Kudos to Ubisoft for working with the academy of Art in this contest. Ubisoft is donating $2500.00 to the university and the winning team. This doesn’t seem like a simple marketing ploy, Ubisoft seems genuinely interested in the gaming and art community. A little cross-promotion and support for art never hurts either. For more details on the contest, read below.

Three Months, Two Creative Influencers, One Winning Design

SAN FRANCISCO – October 15, 2014 – Today, Ubisoft® and Academy of Art University (AAU), two San Francisco creative forces, announced that they are partnering for a contest to have exclusively student-designed artwork created for the front window of Ubisoft’s San Francisco office at 625 Third Street. The contest is open to AAU’s School of Advertising as well as its student-run agency, Young + Hungry a Creative Co-op. Through a series of rounds, artwork from one winning team will be chosen as the new display to go up on Ubisoft’s front window at the beginning of 2015. Additionally, Ubisoft will be donating $2,500 to Academy of Art University and the winning team. “We’re thrilled to partner up again with Academy of Art and its ambitious group of students,” said Michael Hammond, creative director, Ubisoft. “Because we are both proud citizens of San Francisco, we are confident that their work will represent our unique perspective as a creative company in the Bay Area.” Ubisoft previously collaborated with AAU for a similar marketing campaign for a semester-long class project, and they were impressed with the passion, talent and creativity the students brought to the table. Teaming up for a second time seemed only natural, especially since both companies are based in San Francisco. “Academy of Art takes pride in being able to offer our students hands-on learning opportunities through real-world experiences,” said Vince Engel, co-director, School of Advertising. “While we share the same hometown as Ubisoft, we also share the same values in creativity and passion. We look forward to seeing our students’ ideas come to fruition.” Hammond met with the AAU contest participants on campus to present the creative brief. The students were challenged to incorporate Ubisoft characters and elements of its corporate DNA to illustrate the company as a “proud citizen of San Francisco.” Students asked questions and offered a few creative ideas to the Ubisoft team, which stirred up a competitive yet inspirational atmosphere to start the contest. The contest includes three rounds of submissions beginning in late October. The finalists will visit the Ubisoft San Francisco office to present their proposed artwork for judging in December. About Academy of Art University: Founded in 1929 by artists for artists, Academy of Art University is a for-profit, family-owned university located in San Francisco. It is the largest accredited private art and design school in the United States, with an enrollment of more than 18,000 students. The university offers 36 on-campus and online degree and certificate programs across 21 fine arts colleges. Undergraduate degree programs include Associate of Arts (AA), Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA); graduate degree programs include Master of Arts (MA), Master of Fine Arts (MFA) and Master of Architecture (M.Arch). The university is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division II level. To learn more, visit www.academyart.edu.

Sequel to the #1 Rated Shooter of 2012*
Will Re-Imagine the Open World Cooperative Experience

LOS ANGELES, CA — June 9, 2014 — Today, at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles, Ubisoft® showcased Far Cry® 4, the much anticipated sequel to the #1 rated shooter of 2012. Players can now bring a friend along on their open world journey, making Far Cry 4 the ultimate Far Cry® experience.

Hidden in the towering Himalayas lies a country steeped in tradition and violence. You are Ajay Ghale, returning to the country of your birth, the lush forests and harsh snowcapped summits of Kyrat, to fulfill your mother’s dying wish of spreading her ashes. This striking and unpredictable country offers visitors opportunity and peril. You quickly find yourself caught up in a rebellion to overthrow the oppressive regime of Pagan Min, a man known as much for his sense of style and charisma as his cruelty and calculated brutality. Navigating the treacherous landscape, you find your fate increasingly determined by the choices you make because in Kyrat, every second is a story.

In Far Cry 4, you’ll conquer fortress outposts from the back of a six-ton elephant and take to the skies as you rain down explosives from the seat of your gyrocopter. The vertical landscape of the Himalayas isn’t just a pretty backdrop, but a playground that encourages the player to fight, hunt and explore, grappling up cliffs or launching into the air, plummeting to the valley below in a controlled free fall with your wing suit. You’ll carry with you a truly unique arsenal of weaponry that lets you play your way, whether it’s sniping, sneaking or all-out assault. When all else fails, animals can be your biggest allies or your greatest danger, as Kyrat’s wilderness delivers on the promise of a true open world anecdote factory.

For the first time in any Far Cry game, you’ll be able to hunt, fight and explore in the open world with a friend. With co-op Guns for Hire, you can invite a friend into your world to liberate towers, take over outposts and share in the spoils. Hurk, from the Monkey Business add-on content of Far Cry® 3, joins in the fight to take over Kyrat.

Players who purchase Far Cry 4 on PlayStation® will get an exclusive set of Keys to Kyrat, allowing them to invite a few of their friends on PlayStation®Network to tackle the open world together, even if they don’t yet own the game.

Development on Far Cry 4 is being led by Ubisoft Montreal in collaboration with Ubisoft Red Storm, Ubisoft Toronto, Ubisoft Shanghai and Ubisoft Kiev. The game will be available worldwide on November 18 for PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment system, Xbox 360 games and entertainment system from Microsoft and Windows PC.

Alright folks, this is fresh from E3 2014. Seems the fine French folks at Ubi are ready to give us some more details about the new Assassin’s Creed installment. I know I haven’t picked up the serious since the second installment, but I’m looking forward to firing up the PS4 and giving the series another shot. Check the details below, and make sure to comment. Are you ready for the new installment, or are you burned out on the series?

Assassin’s Creed® Unity Available in stores on October 28

LOS ANGELES — June 9, 2014 — Today, at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), Ubisoft announced that the next installment of the 76 million unit-selling Assassin’s Creed franchise, Assassin’s Creed Unity, will be released worldwide on October 28. Assassin’s Creed Unity will be released on Xbox One video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®4 from Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. and PC.

Assassin’s Creed Unity is being developed by the veteran Assassin’s Creed team in Ubisoft Montreal with support from nine Ubisoft studios around the world*. Set in a once-magnificent Paris, Assassin’s Creed Unity plunges into the terror of the 1789 French Revolution and features the most dense and immersive Assassin’s Creed city ever created. Through the streets of Paris, the starving inhabitants are set to take up arms for freedom and equality. In this time of chaos and brutality, a young man named Arno, wounded by the loss of those he loved, sets on a deadly path of redemption. Arno’s pursuit throws him into the middle of a ruthless struggle for the fate of a nation, and transforms him into a true Master Assassin.

Assassin’s Creed Unity reinvents the franchise, starting with the core gameplay pillars that have defined the series from the beginning: navigation, stealth and combat. Players will carve their way through a stunning, full-scale open-world Paris, thanks to the power of the new Anvil engine, rebuilt from the ground up for new generation consoles. Assassin’s Creed Unity gives players full control parkour mechanics, a reinvented fighting system for a richer combat experience, a new stealth mode, cover system and crowd manipulation techniques. Players can channel their inner Assassin, customizing weapons, equipment, outfits and specialized skills to match their play style.

In addition to the sprawling single-player campaign, players can join with up to three friends and take part in story-driven online co-op missions designed specifically for Assassins to play together. Skills and unique gear acquired in the single-player missions will be accessible in co-op and will define a player’s personalized Assassin’s style, whether emphasizing brute force, agility or stealth. Players also will select a unique co-op skill that will help the team survive, evade or fight more effectively to the benefit of the team.

In North America, gamers can purchase the Assassin’s Creed Unity Collector’s Edition. The premium collector’s edition includes the new Assassin Arno as a lifelike 16” figurine poised atop an iconic gargoyle, a music box which plays a remixed version of the Assassin’s Creed Unity theme, the official soundtrack, an art book and two in-game missions.

Players who pre-order Assassin’s Creed Unity will receive 2 bonus offers.  The first is an exclusive single player mission, The Chemical Revolution, offering 30 minutes of additional gameplay. During this mission the player will help Lavoisier the “Father of Modern Chemistry” to escape from his kidnappers and recover his poison bomb formula.

The second is access to the Guillotine Spin to Win Game. Every Friday through launch, consumers have a chance to win a new, incredible prize and receive five more  spins and more chances to win.  For a chance to win, consumers can go to AssassinsCreed.com/play and spin the Guillotine wheel and to try to hit the jackpot.

Potential prizes include:
•    Exotic trips – Paris, Ubisoft Montreal, Comic-Con
•    Games and digital content
•    Exclusive apparel and gear
•    Home Entertainment Systems
•    And more

Ubisoft also announced the Assassin’s Creed Unity Phantom Blade, a life-size replica of Arno’s new signature weapon. The Next Level
Ubisoft’s heart pounding casual gaming competition is back and bringing coaches and teams into the mix. Players will still compete for the best all-around score, but this time will be battling for top scores for themselves and to contribute to their team’s overall score while four celebrity guest coaches, Scott “SirScoots” Smith, Johnathan “Fatal1ty” Wendel, Stephanie “MissHarvey” Harvey and Meg Turney, vie to recruit and mentor the highest-scoring team and player. The winning player walks away with an ultimate gaming package while the coach is playing to win a $5,000 donation awarded to their charity of choice. The competition is restarted each day for a total of three individual grand prize winners and $15,000 in charity donations.

Gamers will try their hand at games including some of Ubisoft’s most popular titles, The Crew and Trials Fusion, as well as a mystery title in the final round of competition. Gamers unable to make it to the show can watch from home at twitch.tv/TheNextLevel.

“The next step in the evolution of Ghost Recon Online comes to Steam and PC”

Ubisoft announced that Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Online will be released worldwide on Steam and PC on April 10 as Tom Clancy’sGhost Recon Phantoms.

“The end of open beta is a new start to the game. The difference between where the game started and the game today is so considerable that we felt we should mark it with a fresh identity,”said Corey Facteau, producer of Ghost Recon Phantoms. “Feedback from our five million players throughout beta enabled us to continuously increase the content of the game and to improve what makes the game unique, the blending of intense shooters with the teamwork and tactical depth of MOBAs. Ghost Recon Phantoms brings a narrative layer to the game based around The Phantoms, ex-Ghosts and current adversaries who left The Ghosts to pursue personal agendas. We’ve also added new gameplay elements to expand the depth of the game and give new experiences to seasoned veterans. Of course, no accounts will be wiped, and our current players will not have to start over.”

Updated Characters and Maps

The game’s new identity comes with a new art direction, including new character and device designs for all three classes as well as a complete reworking of lighting and level design on the majority of maps. Referencing military system prototypes, the art team created realistic new gear for players to deliver an experience representative of tomorrow’s battlefields.

Major Changes in Matchmaking and Customization

With the launch of the game, the development team will address the main concerns of player. Matchmaking will now take into account both the skills and gear, which will grant a fair gaming experience to all users, both new and veterans, paying or not. The team is also going to reveal the new “Mod Master” and weapon camo systems, which will allow countless customization possibilities. The details of these changes will be shared in a community video later this week.

Upcoming Features Built With the Community

Post-launch the team will continue to develop new features and weapons to keep the gameplay dynamic. Currently the team is fine-tuning tactical insertions and smoke grenades, which are being tested in large scale playtests by the community before being released in-game in the near future.

TitanFall for Xbox 360 delayed…again

The new date is April 8th it seems. The game has been enjoying success on next Gen platforms, and I’m actually surprised the game is coming out for last generation. I’ll be very surprised if the game is anywhere near the innovative brilliance on 360 and PS3.

Although the convention wasn’t an explosion in my face, it did have some great bright spots. The anthropologist that was doing lectures apparently cancelled all of his talks with zero notice. We were left sitting in the room for half an hour with no word that it had been cancelled.

Darwin Prophet was there and in her full witchy glory. I actually helped her unload her van lol. Felt weird being the roadie instead of the lead singer. I wanna know where the rest of the band was!

Black Mariah, who is a friend that I’ve worked with worked with La Divina and put together some cool things like “Naked girls reading”. There were some cool costumes and really cool vendors as well. There was a lecture on WestPunk that I really enjoyed. I tried finding more information on the lecture, but the gentleman doesn’t have much of a web presence. Maybe our faithful readers can help out with some research on this. Here are some of the pictures from All-con 2014. That’s all for now kiddies. Look for game review soon, and some more fun from me.
